Our increasingly erratic sun

I am a witness to some of this solar activity. In about 1982, I was a member of a volunteer fire department, and the radios were going wacky. With our FM line of sight radios, we were picking up Dallas and Galveston (we were about 70 miles NW of Houston. To make it worst, at around midnight or one in the morning, we got a call, giant forest fire. As I opened the doors to the station, I looked north, and the entire horizon was glowing red.
