As we traveled north, we seemed to get no closer. Worse yet, we were unable to communicate with each other, nor our dispatcher. Listening to the Dallas Fire Department talk about the same thing, we realised it was the Northern Lights, rarely seen in Texas. But in 1989, a saw them once again in Pto. Lempira, Gracias a Dios. The Miskitos were sure the world was about to end. I might note the radio went wild then too, although it was short wave I was listening to.
